Donald Gene Rodgers, 70, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at his home in Belmond. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 21 at Dugger Funeral Home in Belmond with Rev. Ginger Renken officiating. Burial was in Belmond Cemetery with military rites.

Donald, the son of Earl and Eva Ruggles Rodgers, was born May 23, 1931, in Carlisle and attended Carlisle schools. In 1949 he entered the military and served in the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to Iowa where he worked in construction and maintenance. Donald married Irene Janes on June 14, 1966, in Omaha, Nebraska. Donald enjoyed collecting pop cans and key chains.

Preceding him in death are his parents, a son, Donald Gene, Jr., two sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife of Center Point; four daughters: Theresa Tolle of Council Bluffs, Brenda Karstens and Joe of Sioux Rapids, Sharon McKittrick of Renwick, Laurie Rodgers of Eagle Grove; two sons: Bill Kauffman and wife, Toby of York, Nebraska, Tim Rodgers of Houme, Louisiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters: Marjorie, Edna, Marie and Doris and one brother, Wayne.
