Ardis Bertha Shaw, 77, died Thursday, December 13, 2001 at her home in Meservey. Funeral services were held Monday, December 17, 2001 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, with the Rev. Dan Voss officiating. Interment was in the Meservey Cemetery. Ardis was born June 17, 1924, on the family farm in Wisner Township, Franklin County, to Heiko Jacob and Grace Lycinda (Hafermann) Janssen. She attended Center School No. 5 in Wisner Township and graduated from Meservey High School. On August 25, 1942, Ardis married Wayne K. Shaw in Bethany, Missouri. Ardis was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was a member of the Ruth Circle and the quilters group. Ardis was committed to her family and grandchildren. She was a 4-H leader for more than 25 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Golden Years Club and the Kitchen Lassies for many years. Ardis liked to quilt and made baby quilts for each member of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one granddaughter. Survivors include children: Bertha Shaw of Eagle Grove; Kenneth Shaw and wife, Linda; Arnold Shaw and wife, Doreen; Lucinda Zieman and husband, David, all of Meservey; grandchildren: Michelle Duff and husband, Rob; Kendra Wilson and husband, Scot; Chad Shaw and wife, Ranae; Nikki Thompson and husband, Jay; Krista Dickman and husband, Joey; Kelly Zieman; Brian Zieman and Michael Zieman; great-grandchildren: Amber, Kyle and Hailey Duff; Sadie and Seth Wilson; Spencer and Conner Shaw, and brother, Vern Janssen of Belmond.
