Lee O. Robbins, 72, of Goodell died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 25, 2000, at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond, with Fr. David Beckman officiating. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery near Belmond. Military rites were conducted by the Goodell and Belmond Honor Guard. Music was provided by Janyce Kinseth, organist; Maxine Whitty, cantor; and lector was Donna Kopriva. Eucharistic Ministers were Regina Lamoureux, Mona McLaughlin, Sharon Johnson, Mary Ann Spitler, and Veronica Benetti. Ushers were Raymond Lowenberg, Leroy Carolus and Joe McLaughlin. Honorary bearers were all Belmond Knights of Columbus Members of Council 8110. Casket bearers were 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Lee Oren Robbins, the son of Lee R. and Mildred (Fuller) Robbins was born April 18, 1929 in Goodell. He graduated from Goodell High School in 1947. He served in the United States Air Force in Guam from 1947 until 1951. He received a Good Conduct Medal and a Far East Occupation Medal. Lee was united in marriage to Deloris Green on December 27, 1952. He worked for General Mills from 1951 to 1964, and then Central Soya until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Goodell Fire Department, served as Mayor of Goodell from 1968 to 1995, achieved a honorary lifetime membership in the Knights of Columbus, and was a long time member of St. Mary's Church in Goodell and St. Francis Xavier Church in Belmond. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and helping farmers with their crops.
Preceding him in death was his father. Survivors are his wife, Deloris of Goodell; his children and their spouses, Kenneth and Rene Robbins of Belmond, Rita and Tom Christians of Belmond, Larry and his fiancee, Phyllis TerHark of Goodell, David and Linda Robbins of Goodell, Dale and Lynn Robbins of Klemme, Rebecca and Rick Munoz of Ottumwa; grandchildren, Tony, Matt, Kristina and Natalie Robbins, Clinton and his wife, Andrea and their son, Cale, Nichole, and Neil Christians, Amanda, and Mark Robbins and his daughter, Jasmine, Beth, James, and Rachel Robbins, Jill Logston and her husband, Richie and their children, Evan and Mikaylah, Jennifer and Vina Munoz; his mother, Mildred Robbins of Belmond; brother, Eugene Robbins of Forest City; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Tom Zelsdorf of Burlington, Janice and Russ Pascally of Springville, Tennessee, Maxine Johnson of Belmond; many nieces and nephews.
