James Leland McVey, Jr., of Alexander died of pancreatic cancer on April 21, 2001 at the Belmond Medical Center in Belmond. A Memorial Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated Saturday, May 26, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. James, the son of James L. and Mary A. (Mamie) Fulton McVey, was born on February 15, 1932 in Belmond. He is survived by his children: James McVey of San Diego, California, Brian McVey and his wife, Bobbi of Belmond, Denise Scheller and her husband, Jim of Windsor, Colorado, Stacey McVey of Des Moines, and Michael McVey of Baltimore, Maryland; former wife, Maxine McVey Whitty; his grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Adam, and Kaylie; a half-sister, Jeananne and a sister, Patty. James' body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
