SATER, DALE LELAND, passed away Sat., Aug. 16, 2003; but his love and spirit lives on; Dale was born on Feb. 3, 1917 in Rowan, IA to Elizabeth Nunn and Burton Sater; he is now lovingly reunited with them and his brothers Milford, Maurice, Ralph and sister Marie; Dale is survived by his beloved wife, June Sater (nee Foster), sweethearts and best friends for 63 years; his legacy is celebrated by 8 children, Tom, Terry (Judi) Sater, Nancy (Lester) Lucas, Judy Albert, Pat ( Karen), Mike (Eva) Sater, Sharon (Dave) Elder, Tim (Neysa) Sater; 20 grandchildren, Tom II, Bryan, Marlena, Justin, Ricky, Linda, Chris, Dina, Amanda, Katy, Kelsey, Diane, Mark, Luke, Matt, Kristen, Tyler, Alex, Ryan and Daniel, great-grandchild Sarah. This beloved uncle and cherished friend served in the army, Italy Occupation Forces 1945-1946. He retired as a union meat cutter at 62 and went to work for a son at Sater Restorations for another 10 years. Together Dale and June were president and vice-president of the Greater St. Louis St. Bernard Assoc. Dale will long be remembered as 'Papa Smurf' regaling all with his zest for life and laughter, playing his washboard / One man band ensemble. We his family and friends mourn his passing and celebrate the blessings of his existence. Funeral Wed., Aug. 20 8:30 a.m. from COLLIER Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. (Bridgeton), to St. Jude's Church, 2218 N. Warson, for a 9:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice. Visitation Tuesday, 2-9 p.m.
