Duane W. Skiye, 61, of 23 Ann St. SW, formerly of Iowa City, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in his home following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and at the chapel after 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Survivors include his wife, Janet; two sons, Larry and wife Patti of Cedar Rapids and Russ and fiancee Jamie Trpkosh of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Gary Skiye and wife Carolyn of Belmond; a sister, Sandy Stokke and husband Dick of Bloomington, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Skiye of North Liberty; a granddaughter, Taylar Skiye of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Cory and Jacob of Plano, Ill.; and a step-granddaughter, Tanya Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rob, and two sisters, Marlene Harty and Delores Skiye.

Duane was born June 27, 1939, in Clarion, to Willis and Dorothy Allie Skiye. He married Janet TerHark on Oct. 29, 1961, in Clarion. Duane graduated from Clarion High School and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion. He served as an alderman in Sandwich, Ill. He was a member of the Moose Club and loved fishing, enjoyed all sports, telling stories and playing with his grandchildren. He was a manager of transportation for Growmark Inc. from 1976 to 1996. He had served as a deputy sheriff in Wright County, Iowa, and was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard from 1961 to 1965.
A memorial fund has been established.
