Clare Warner Streit, 91, of Goldfield, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2003 at the Rotary Ann Care Center in Eagle Grove. Memorial services were held Saturday, August 23rd at Willim Funeral Home in Clarion.

Clare Warner Warner Streit was born January 25, 1912, on a farm west of Goldfield in Wright County. She was the second of six children born to France and Hattie Clausen Warner. She attended Evergreen Country School for eight years and graduated from Goldfield High School. After a two year course at Eagle Grove Junior College she taught in rural schools in Wright and Humboldt counties. She and Wallace Streit were united in marriage in 1939 and they lived in Clarion for two years. In 1941 they moved to Waterloo and resided there for 40 years, except for the World War II years when she was employed as a laboratory technician for Dow Chemical Company while Wallace was in the service. After returning to Waterloo, she was employed at F.W. Means & Co. for 27 years. In 1983, she and her husband moved to Goldfield for their retirement years. Clare was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Wallace; parents; sisters, Irene, Evelyn and Ruth and two brothers, Carroll and Wesley.
