Naomi Peterson, 92, of Clarion, died Thursday, August 7, 2003 at USA Healthcare in Clarion. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 9th at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Naomi Shackelford was born May 13, 1911 at Whittemore, the daughter of Wilne and Mable (Parson) Shackelford. She lived in Whittemore, Burt and Algona before moving to Goldfield where she graduated from Goldfield High School in 1931. Naomi was united in marriage to Clarence Peterson on January 30, 1933 in Dakota City. They lived on a farm south of Hardy for one year before moving to Goldfield, where they lived from 1934 to 1941. In 1941, they moved to Eagle Grove while Clarence served in the war from 1941 to 1947. They then returned to Goldfield to live on the family farm west of town until 1972. They returned to Eagle Grove in 1972 and lived there until retiring in 1998, when they moved to Clarion.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence “Pete” of Clarion; daughters, Janice Nickell and husband, Lewis of Eagle Grove; Dorothy Follmann and husband, Leonard of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas; son, Richard Peterson and wife, Judith of Eagle Grove; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a half brother, Richard Shackelford and wife, Phyllis of Visalia, California; and a half sister, Gayle Browning of Boron, California. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nona Jensen; half brother, Floyd Shackelford; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
