Wayne Wilson, 86, of Clarion, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at USA Healthcare, Clarion. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31 at First United Methodist Church, Clarion. Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements. Wayne Wilson was born November 29, 1915 in Hamilton County, the son of Samuel and Hattie Eaton Wilson. He attended local schools in Hamilton County and then worked on the family farm. He also helped many neighbors with farming. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on September 10, 1942. He served in Boganville and Guam. He returned to the United States and was honorably discharged on September 15, 1945. He then continued farming in Hamilton County until moving to Clarion in 1951. Wayne was united in marriage to Jean State on January 9, 1954. He owned and operated Wayne's Tap until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the VFW., American Legion, and First United Methodist Church, Clarion. Wayne is survived by; his wife, Jean of Clarion; two daughters, Pam Buggs and husband, Tom of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; Mel Wilson of Newton; one son, John Wilson and wife, Kelley of Eugene, Oregon; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Wilson and wife, Joy of Webster City; two sisters, Edna Estlund of Webster City and Eula Emery of Des Moines; two sisters-in-law, Jeri Wilson of Texas and Flossie Wilson of Webster City and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
