Lynn Mechem, age 89, of Clarion passed away on August 20, 2002 at his home in rural Clarion. Memorial services were held Friday, August 23 at the Clarion Church of Christ with Rev. Tim Platt officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Lynn E. Mechem was born November 22, 1912 to Arthur and Grace Yocum Mechem in Lincoln Township, Wright County, Iowa. He attended local schools and attended high school in Clarion. He grew up on the farm and always enjoyed everything it had to offer. He married Inez P. Hagen on November 24, 1944 in Dows. Lynn enjoyed showing and riding horses and took great pride in his family and his farm. He enjoyed passing on all that he had learned whether it was about crops, livestock or showing and riding horses to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Al Kahir Shrine, the Wright County Shrine, life time member of the Church of Christ, past Deacon of the Church of Christ, past leader of the Wright County 4-H Horse and Pony Club and a member of the Wright County Extension Council. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Inez; one son, Michael and his wife, Sue of Clarion; one daughter, Hollie Smith and her husband, Dennis of Estherville and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Max Mechem and one sister, Orel Caster.
