Wayne Ebert, 89, died Sunday, December 23, 2001 at the Wright Medical Center, Clarion. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 27th at First Lutheran Church, Clarion. Rev. Gary Boen and Rev. LaVonne Kaasa officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements. Wayne Ebert was born November 17, 1912, at Blairstown, the son of Eldo and Laura Schultz Ebert. He graduated from Blairstown High School, attended River Forest College in Illinois for two years, received a Bachelor's Degree from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota. On November 11, 1943, he and Margaret O. Wescott of Sumner were united in marriage. Wayne taught high school science at Plainfield before coming to Clarion in 1944. From 1944 to 1976 he worked for the Clarion School District as a high school science teacher, audiovisual director, and served as principal for two of those years. Wayne served on the Clarion City Council for several terms. He was a charter member of the Clarion Lions Club. Worshipping at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, Wayne served as the organist for many years. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and was an amateur magician and member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Margaret; three children, Barbara Johnson of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Gregory Ebert of Buffalo, New York, and Randy Ebert of Melrose, Wisconsin; six grandchildren; two sisters, Lauretta Niebes of Vinton and Adeline Severin of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Laurel, and one siste, Ester.
