Alysia Pauline Preul, 73, of Clarion, died Friday, December 21, 2001, at the home of her mother, Frances Larson. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29th at First Congregational Church, Clarion. Pastor Curt Miner officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements. Alysia Pauline Larson was born July 27, 1928, in Clarion, the daughter of Charles and Frances (Richards) Larson. She grew up in Clarion and graduated from Clarion High School. Alysia went on to attend Drake University and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1950 with a degree in High School English and Speech/Drama. Alysia was united in marriage with Byron Preul in Spencer on June 16, 1951. After graduating from college, the couple moved to Ithaca, New York, where Alysia taught school for several years. In 1980, she moved back to Clarion where she worked part time at the Clarion Public Library. Alysia truly enjoyed reading and teaching. She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion, a 50 year member of The Eastern Star, member of Bridge Club, and a member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association. Alysia was a life long Hawkeye fan. Survivors include her mother, Frances Larson of Clarion, mother-in-law, Fern Preul of Fort Dodge, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, husband, several aunts and uncles, and several cousins.
