A memorial service for Myrtle Geneva Krause of Northeast Portland will be at 9 a.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wilhelm Funeral Home. She died of causes related to age Thursday in a Beaverton foster-care home. Mrs. Krause was 86. She was born May 19, 1905, in Dows, Iowa. She moved to Oregon in 1929. A resident of the Portland area since 1942, Mrs. Krause had worked as a grocery clerk through Grocers Local 555 for about 20 years. She had been employed by Safeway, Piggly Wiggly and the 3 Boys Market until her retirement in 1970. During World War II, Mrs. Krause worked at the Portland shipyards for about four years. Survivors include her son, Don Cary of Kaiser; daughter, Phyllis G. Abelsen of Beaverton; sister, Eva Cary of Burley, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Disposition was by cremation. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
