Obituary for Patricia "Pat" Ann Low

Patricia “Pat” Ann Low, 88, of Northwood, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service for Pat will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 29, 2016, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street, Northwood, with Reverend Judy Converse officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

The family would like to suggest that those wishing to give a memorial contributions in her memory, may wish to consider memorials be made to the Pat Low memorial fund to be given to her favorite charities.

Patricia “Pat” Ann Low was born on August 19, 1927, in Manly, the daughter of Ernie and Alma (Aamodt) Roppe. She was baptized on September 4, 1927, at Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood, by Reverend J.W. Ylvisaker, and reaffirmed her faith by confirmation on April 27, 1941, by Reverend A.J. Tolo. Pat grew up on the Roppe farm in Northwood, and attended and graduated from Northwood High School and Hamilton Business College in Mason City in 1945. She was united in marriage to Lyle Low on November 16, 1947, at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood by Reverend Alf Jorgenson.

Pat was a stenographer at Wilson Employment office for 2 ˝ years, and was a bookkeeper and teller at the Northwood State Bank for 30 years. Pat also was a clerk for Low’s Auction Company in Northwood for a few years.

Pat assisted her son Randy, with Pony Express, Saddle Club, and Easter Seals, getting donations for horse shows; she also enjoyed helping her son with showing horses and loved her cats.

Pat was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood, the ladies aid and Martha Circle at the church.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Randy Low of Northwood; her brothers, Dewayne Roppe of Northwood, Jerry (Dianne) Roppe of Aurora, Oregon, and Scott (Carol) Roppe of Omaha, NE; brothers and sisters-in-law, Berniece Estes of Northwood, Richard (Marge) Low of Northwood; several nieces, nephews, several grand-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ernie and Alma Roppe; husband Lyle Low who died on March 21, 1996; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Clarence and Luella Low, Mavis Roppe, Russel and Dorothy Low, Deloris and Allen Low, Vale and Berniece Low, Mick and Frances Low, Harold and Eleanor Low, Carl and Arlene Grosland, Pearl and Leif Westin, George and Lucille Matthews; Drexel Estes; and many nieces and nephews.
