GRAFTON, IOWA - Richard Alvin Bork, 74, of Grafton, died on Sunday, November 1, 2015, in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, Iowa with the Rev. Solveig A. H. Zamzow officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

Richard was born on November 14, 1940, in Grafton to Alvin H. and Vivian (Isenhart) Bork. He graduated from Grafton High School. While in high school he candled eggs for the Grafton Produce an obtained the name of “Eggs”. Dick entered the U.S. Army and served for two years, with one year in Germany. He worked for Dalluge Turkey Farm. For many years he worked at the Globe Gazette as a typesetter, later working for the town of Grafton.

Dick married Jane Eckert on September 26, 1998, in Clear Lake, Iowa. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and walking. His passion was trains, taking care of the train displays at the Heritage Depot in Grafton. He was known for his outdoor decorations which he put up for the various holidays. Dick was also known for his hugs -- “A person needs at least 3 hugs a day, or more.” His grandchildren were a great joy to him.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith.

He is survived by his wife, Jane of Grafton; daughters Tonya Minto of Lyle, Minnesota, and Jennifer Bork of Charles City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Lakota, Chyanne and Tala Minto; godchild, Andy Anderson; a brother, Alvin (Deanna) Bork of Manly, Iowa; sisters, Beverly (Arlo) Johansen of Eldora, Iowa, and Jeanie (Jay) White of Grafton, Iowa; a sister in law, Judy Hrdlicka of Grafton, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
