Obituary for Thelma Walk
Thelma (nee McCarley) Walk, 88, of Grafton passed away Tuesday July 28, 2015 at Brookdale of Eagan Care Center in Eagan Minnesota.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to services, Grafton, with Rev. Solveig A.H. Zamzow officiating. Burial will be in Grafton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, (July 31, 2015) at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring Street, Manly.
Memorial contributions can be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Thelma Walk was born on October 26, 1926 in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of Glenn and Opal (Might) McCarley. Thelma attended school in Ohio and shortly thereafter she was united in marriage to LaVern Walk on October 6, 1946 and to this union three children were born. Thelma was proud of returning to school to attain her High School Diploma in 1966, acquiring her LPN license and working for the local hospitals in Mason City for twenty years.
Thelma enjoyed reading, tending to her garden and flowers, crossword puzzles, volunteering at the library in Grafton, traveling with LaVern to Alaska, Australia, China and New Zealand, treasured the time she spent with her family and friends.
Thelma was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton where she was baptized at.
She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Dave) Fandel of Johnston, Jeanine Walk of Apple Valley, Connie Sue (Glen) Lussier, grandchildren, Nicole (Eric Wilson) Fandel, Shae (Jeremy) Thompson, Aubrey Marsh, great grandchildren, Sydney Umbarger, Jacob Umbarger, Grace Umbarger, Eli Thompson, Zac Thompson, Noah Thompson and two sisters Rosemary and Roxanne of Ohio.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Helen (Robert) Cornwell, Mary (Al) Sowards, brothers, Gerald and Kenneth McCarley and many other loved family members.
