KENSETT, IOWA - Doris Elaine Cooper, 90, of Kensett died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 600 Fifth St., Kensett, with the Rev. Tom Martin officiating.

Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Those wishing to give a memorial in her memory may wish to consider contributions to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, or to Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements.

Doris Elaine Cooper, 90, of Kensett, died Thursday, April 02, 2015, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service for Doris will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 600 5th Street, Kensett, with Reverend Tom Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday at the church.

Doris Elaine Cooper was born on September 26, 1924, in rural Kensett, the daughter of Elmer and Nellie (Medlang) Peterson. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett. Doris attended rural grade school in Brookfield Township and graduated from Kensett High School in 1942.

She was united in marriage to Warren Cooper on April 23, 1943, and to this marriage a son was born, Michael. After their marriage together they farmed all their life in Worth County. Doris also was a Fuller brush sales person for many years.

Doris enjoyed golfing, traveling with her husband Warren across the United States, Alaska, and Norway. She and Warren also enjoyed playing cards.
She was a member of Rice Lake Country Club in Lake Mills, and the Sons of Norway.

Doris was very active and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the church circle, and also held various offices in the women’s group at the church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Stacy (Mark) Davidson of Northwood, and Eric (Theresa) Cooper of Kensett; her great-grandchildren, Preston (Marianne) Davidson of Urbandale, Trevor Davidson and fiancé Logan Jackley of Northwood, and Warren Cooper of Kensett; great-great-grandson, Julien Cooper Davidson; daughter-in-law, Dianne Cooper of Kensett; sister-in-law, Lois Cooper of Lime Springs, Iowa; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Nellie Peterson; her husband, Warren Cooper; son, Michael Cooper; siblings, Irene Overland, Nora Mammen, Elsie Whittaker and Conrad Peterson; special friend, Fran Hess; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
