FEBRUARY 21

Funeral services for Chester "Chet" Nathan Stromley, 76, of Northwood, who died Tuesday, February 18, 1997, in Mason City, Iowa, were held on February 21, 1997 at First Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa, with Rev. A. Merseth officiating.

Chester Nathan Stromley was born July 24, 1920 in Worth County, Iowa, the son of Christian and Nelina (Johnson) Stromley. He attended and received his education in the rural schools near Otranto, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Eleanor Sanvik on October 5, 1941 at the First Shell Rock Lutheran Church, Northwood. They lived near Garner where he worked on a farm for Louie Grell before moving back to Northwood working for Rock Island Railroad as a section foreman.

He also worked for Kark Rendering Works in Osage, Greene Rendering Works in Greene and the National Buy Products in Mason City and LeRoy, and Mickey Arnold on their farm near Northwood, Crystal Sugar Co., Mason City, Winnebago Industries, Forest City, And Curries Mfg. Co. in Mason City, until his retirement in 1984.

After his retirement he enjoyed mowing lawns and blowing snow for several people in Northwood.

Chester is survived by his wife, Eleanor Stromley, Northwood; four children: Sharon Gentz and husband Richard of Northwood, Darlene Spear and husband Larry of Hampton, Dennis Stromley and wife Kyla, St. Ansgar, and Denise Geerlings of North Salt Lake City, Utah; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven brothers: Obert of Marble Rock, Reuben of Mason City, Robert of Brunswick, Georgia, Kenneth of Sacramento, California, Rodney of Nora Springs, Wayne of Mason City, Mike of Rhode Island; seven sisters: Sadie Thompson of Joice, Esther Nelson of Northwood, Ruby Mae Stromley of Joice, Ardith of Denver, Colorado, Barbara of Mason City, Marg of Mason City, and Rachael of Albert Lea, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Stromley, and by two brothers, George and Roger Stromley.

Burial was in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood, Iowa.
