KENSETT, IOWA - Harlan E. Myli, 89, Kensett, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, 4108 Killdeer Avenue, Kensett, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Kensett.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Those wishing to give a memorial in his memory may wish to consider memorials to Elk Creek Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Retirement Home.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements.

Harlan E. Myli was born on July 17, 1925, in Mason City, the son of Rudolph and Mabel (Redalen) Myli. He was baptized and reaffirmed his baptism through confirmation in the Elk Creek Lutheran Church. Harlan attended Brookfield Township #8 through the 8th grade, and graduated from Kensett High School in 1943. After completing his schooling, Harlan farmed with his parents on the family farm and continued to farm until his retirement. Upon his retirement, Harlan along with his brother Russell continued to bale hay, selling to hobby farmers and to people who had horses.

Harlan enjoyed driving his pickup around the county checking out the crops.

He was a faithful member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish his memory is his sister, Marilyn Myli of Kensett; brothers, Russell (Sue) Myli of Lake Mills, and Erling (Vada) Myli of Kensett; nephews, Brian Myli of Las Vegas, Nev., and Joel (Lisa) Myli of Clinton; nieces, Amy (Troy) Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kari Myli (Richard) Arndt of Sauk City, Wis.; great-nieces and nephews, Kali, Sara, Lexi, and Bret Myli, all of Clinton, and Aleah Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Mabel (Redalen) Myli, and his sister, Ruth Myli, who died in 2006.
