Ruth Amanda Patterson, 91

Ruth Amanda Patterson, 91, of Osage, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Faith Lutheran Home, Osage.

Ruth was born on August 10, 1922, in Worth County, Iowa, to Carl and Nettie (Halvorson) Stromley. She attended rural schools to the eighth grade. Ruth grew up with nine sisters and three brothers. She married Darrell Patterson on Dec. 31, 1943. They lived, farmed and raised their family in Mitchell County, Iowa. They moved to St. Ansgar in 1985. Ruth’s last six and-a-half years were spent in Faith Home Assisted Living and the Faith Lutheran Home, Osage, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Orville, Carl Jr. and Kenneth.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Rodney (Lori) Patterson and Virgil (Linda) Patterson; two daughters, LaDonna (Jerry) Gunderson and Rhonda (Steve) Gerk; nine grandchildren, Scott (Deanna) Halbach, Gregg (Amy) Halbach, Daniel (Terri) Halbach, Corey (Dennise Starr) Patterson, Michael (Hannah) Gerk, Carter Patterson, Taylor (Abbey) Patterson, Mackenzie( Kyle) Kelley and Hilary Gerk.; five great-grandchildren, Hayden Halbach, Alexis Halbach, Katelyn Halbach, Ashley Halbach and Adelyn Patterson; six sisters, Loretta Hofland, Louise McPhail, Mary Jane Rieman, Rose Rekow, Inez Hommez, Gladys Groth, Lillian Warrington, Betty Tollefson and Diane Petznick.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, Iowa, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemtery, St. Ansgar, Iowa. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
