HOLSTAD, REV. VERNON FLOYD - age 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. He was a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Vernon was a minister for 53 years having served in Nova Scotia, Canada, Portersville, Pennsylvania, and most recently for 27 years at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Myrtle Holstad; siblings, Arlene, Maynard, Leslie, Marvin Holstad. Vernon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Lipscomb Holstad; son, Scott Cameron Holstad and wife, Gretchen VanOstrand; sisters, Gilma Lenz and husband, Roger, Ethel Nerheim and husband, Noble, Marlene Hansen; brothers, Irwin Holstad and wife, Dixie, Duane Holstad and wife, Sharon; numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church.

Vernon grew up in on farms in Bristol and Brookfield townships in Worth County, Iowa. He attended Worth County rural elementery schools and Lake Mills, Iowa High School. He graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa in 1958.
