Ole W Johnson was born September 26, 1878 at Tordal, Norway. He emigrated abt 1895 to Fertile, Iowa and later moved west to farm in North Dakota.
Ole married Maria Andersen on April 1, 1906 at Kenmare, Ward, North Dakota.
The couple had 10 children:
Helmer Jester, Hazel Cora, Walter Clarence, Earl Warner, Adolph Bjorn, Florence Mary, Olga Marie Earlina, Nora Thelma, Evelyn Irene and Elvira Doris.Found in the 1910 - 1940 censuses at District # 158, Sidonia, Mountrail, North Dakota:
1910: Ole Johnson 31, Maria Johnson 21, Jester E Johnson 2, Hazel C Johnson 10/12.1915: Ole Johnson 36, Mary 26, Jester H 8, Hazel 5, Walter 3, Earl 1.
1920: Ole Johnson 41, Maria Johnson 30, Helmer Johnson 12, Hazel Johnson 10, Walter Johnson 8, Earl Johnson 5, Adolph Johnson 2 [3 8/12], Florence Johnson 0 [2/12] .
1930: Ole Johnson 51, Mary Johnson 41, Helmer J Johnson 22, Hazel C Johnson 20, Walter C Johnson 18, Adolph B Johnson 12, Florence M Johnson 10, Olga M E Johnson 7, Nora T Johnson 5, Evelyn I Johnson 3.

Ole and Maria moved back to Worth County, Iowa.
Ole W Johnson died December 25, 1957 at Kensett, Worth, Iowa at the age of 79 years. His funeral was held at the Bethany Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. H. Hendrickson. Pall bearers were:Charles Colby, Merle Meyers, Doyle Weieneth, Harold DeMaris, Glenn Olsen, and William Haugen. He was buried at the Grant Cemetery, Fertile, Worth, Iowa.

Ole Johnson was born at Tordal, Norway, on September 27, 1880. He had four brothers and three sisters. When he was sixteen, he carne to Iowa and worked for some of his relatives in the area of Fertile. Iowa. Later, he came to Kenmare and worked in the roundhouse. He was also a fireman on the railroad.Marie Andersen, his wife, moved to North Dakota from St. Ansgar, Iowa. She was born on January 29. 1890. She and her folks came by train to settle in the Kenmare area. She had six sisters and four brothers.
Ole Johnson and Marie Anderson were married on April 1. 1906. in Kenmare. They homesteaded in Sidonia Township in 1907. They started farming and raising cattle, chickens, and pigs. He used horses for working on the farm.
Ole served on the township board and was treasurer in the church many years. Marie was also active in the church. They had Ladies aid in their home. Marie was treasurer of the Ladies aid. There were services in the Crowfoot School House until the Zion Church was built in 1926. Ole helped to build the church.
Ten children were born to them --- four boys and six girls. Earl and Helmer are deceased. The other children are: Hazel (Mrs. Henry Lundt) of Palermo; Florence (Mrs. Daniel Sanderson) of Estherville. Iowa; Olga (Mrs. Francis Ouverson) of Hanlontown. Iowa; Nora (Mrs. Maynard Mogk) of Kensett, Iowa; Evelyn Johnson of Mason City, Iowa; Elvira (Mrs. Russell Olson) of Fairfax, Iowa; Walter of Kensett. Iowa and Adolph of Fertile, Iowa.
In 1940, Ole and Marie Johnson and eight of the children moved to Iowa to rent his brother Hans’ farm. This farm was five miles from Kensett. Mrs. Lundt stayed in North Dakota. Ole passed away on December 25. 1957. at 77 years. Marie passed away on July 16. 1960, at the age of 70. Both are buried at Fertile. Iowa.
