August Julius Mielke was born July 9, 1860 at Pomerania, Germany, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herman Feldt, May 26, 1939. He was baptized soon after birth and was confirmed at the usual age. He came with his parents to America in 1883. They settled at Alma, Wis., in Buffalo county. He entered into matrimony with Wilhemina Diederich on January 20, 1884. She preceded him in death five years ago. To this union four children were born, one son, Eldor of Mason City and three daughters; Mrs. Clara Sorenson, Owatonna, Minn., Mrs. Anna Kuntz, Medford, Minnl, and Mrs. Olga Feldt, Grafton.

He came to Grafton in 1906 and purchased a farm four miles northeast of that town where he resided up to a year ago when he made his home with his daughter up to the time of his death.

He enjoyed good helth up to a short time ago when he became ill with infirmities of old age.

Funeral services were conducted at the Grafton Lutheran church with the Rev. H.L. Lechner officiting. Interment was made in the Grafton Lutheran cemetery.
