Anna Marie Dippell Trettin was born January 18, 1888, near Austinville, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dippell. She was baptized soon after birth. At the age of nine days her mother died. The family moved to Ackley where they lived for about five years. The remainder of her girlhhood days she spent on a farm near St. Ansgar. She was confirmed near Toeterville in the Union Presbyterian church of which she had been a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to Ervin Trettin on March 26, 1913 in the Union Presbyterian church. To this union one son Kermit was born. Soon after they came to Grafton and settled on a farm two miles south of Grafton.

She enjoyed good health up to two yers ago when she suffered with heart trouble. She recovered seemingly and was able to enjoy life and do her duties.

On June 15, she passed away, heart trouble being the cause of death. She attained the age of 51 years, four months and 28 days.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, her son, one sister, Mrs. Mae Duenow of Toeterville, two brothers, Louis of St. Ansgar and Albert of California, and many other relatives and friends. Her aged father, Ed Dippell of Toeterville also survives.

Funeral services were held June 18 at the home and at the Grafton Lutheran church. Rev. Lechner officiated. A solo, "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling" was sung by Miss Virginia Bringolf of Mason City. The octet sand" Jesus Saviour Pilot Me."

Interment was made in the Grafton Lutheran cemetery.
