Adelle Loken, 99, Emmons
Funeral services for Adelle Mae Loken, 99, of Emmons will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. Christopher Martin will officiate. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Adelle died on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Adelle Mae Loken was born on February 25, 1914, in Worth County, Iowa. She grew up in rural Northwood and graduated from high school. She taught school for several years. In the 1930s Adelle was united in marriage to Raymond Loken at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. The couple farmed south of Twin Lakes. Adelle lived on the farm there for 70 years, moving to an apartment in Emmons 10 years ago.
Adelle was a very pleasant, positive and outgoing person. After her son, Reid, went to college she began working as a certified nursing assistant at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was a member of Emmons Lutheran Church and associated women’s groups. She enjoyed traveling in her younger years. She was a member of the Twin Lakes and Emmons senior citizens groups. In her later years Adelle enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins on television.
Survivors include her son, Reid (Ladonna) Loken and many nieces and nephews.
Adelle was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond, a son, Craig, in early childhood and a daughter in infancy.
