MANLY, IOWA - Marieta (Malit) Beard passed from this life on April 17, 2012, at her home. Born Marieta Bergonio in San Mateo, Isabella, the Phillipines, on June 6, 1964, the daughter of Helaria Antalan Bergonio and Ricardo Bergonio, soon nicknamed Malit.

Mutual friends introduced Malit to Gary Beard who she married in 2004. Their first home was in Mason City, where Malit was employed first by Marshall & Swift Cleaners, then later by Sunny Fresh Foods.

Eventually they acquired a home in Manly, which proved to be the home of their dreams. Malit was an impecable homemaker, as well as being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, being strongly supportive of her children's accomplishments. She was a prolific gardener, sharing her produce with everyone. Malit was renowned as an extremely hard worker. She was especially well-liked and beloved by everyone who knew her, and will always be remembered for her gentleness and sweetness of spirit.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Gary, daughters, Realyn Grace (Jerry) of Las Cruces, N.M., Becky Jansen of Payson, Ariz., son Sean Connery Pua, Manly, as well as, brothers and sisters throughout the world; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.

There will be a visitation only, Sunday, April 22, from noon-2 p.m. at Bride Colonial Chapel, in Manly.
