MANLY - Jon C. Flo, 64, of Manly, died at his home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
The memorial Service will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly, at 11 a.m. on Saturday April 21. Family will be available to greet one hour prior, and lunch will follow the service.
Jon was born on November 9, 1947, to Ronald and Beverly (Sorenson) Float Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minn. His early education was in rural Rake at a country school. Later, Jon attended and graduated from Northwood-Kensett High School in 1966. Jon married Eileen Widen in Forest City. To this union, two children were born - Scott and April.
Jon attended barber school and worked in the field for a few years. Jon was a paint sales representative, worked for Deckers Meat Packing in Mason City. After Deckers closed he did carpentry and he started an excavating business. Jon began trucking in 1988 and retired in December 2010 due to illness. Jon loved to garden, grow flowers and shared his tomatoes with the neighbors. He loved visiting with friends and family.
Jon is survived by his son, Scott and his wife Carolyn of Thompson, Iowa, and his daughter April and her husband Jason of Manly, Iowa. Seven grandchildren including: James, John, Cassandra,Jacob Burke, Thomas Flo and 'Patrick' on the way,Mackensie and Matthew Dodd. His siblings include: sister, Karen and her husband Steve Schneider of Phoenix, Ariz. and brother, Brad and Vickie Flo of Kensett; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Madeline Flo and Howard and Freida Sorenson, and his parents.
