ILA TERENCE KNUTSON

NORTHWOOD, IOWA - Ila Terence Knutson, 81, of 700 N. 10th St., died Friday (June 29, 2001) at the Lutheran Retirement Home.

Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Interim Pastor Lyn Frank and the Rev. Philip Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in the South Shell Rock Cemetery, Northwood.

Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, and will resume one hour before the service at the church Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to South Shell Rock Cemetery or First Lutheran Church.

Ila was born on Oct. 25, 1919, at Joice, the daughter of Lars and Ida (Ramsey) Amundson. She attended the Larson School at rural Joice and graduated from Lake Mills High School.

Ila taught in rural schools in Worth County for several years. In June 1942 she was married to Cornell Knutson at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Joice. Ila and Cornell resided at the Knutson farm west of Northwood for their entire married life.

Quilting and gardening were among her hobbies. She was active in the Worth County Historical Society, First Lutheran Church Women and the Golden Tones Women's Choir of First Lutheran Church.

Ila is survived by four children, Sharyl Nestor of Eden Prairie, Minn., L. Timothy Knutson and his wife, Jeanette, of Fort Worth, Texas, Gary Knutson and his wife, Twyla, of Olathe, Kan., and Rachel Nordstrom of Zearing; eight grandchildren, Andrew Nestor, Troy, Mich., Joy Nestor, San Francisco,Calif., Jonathan Knutson, Olathe, Kan., Katie Knutson, Sandusky, Ohio, Carl Knutson, Fort Worth, Ingrid Knutson, Fort Worth, Kimberly Shinn and her husband, David, Zearing, and Michael Nordstrom, Zearing; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Shinn, Zearing; a brother, Lester Amundson and his wife, Avis, Northwood; sister-in-law, Lucille Medlang, Kensett; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandsons, Daniel and Aaron Nordstorm; sister, Orlette Florentz; and four infant sisters.
