MARY LOU DAVIDSON

NORTHWOOD - Mary Lou Davidson, 65, of Northwood, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St. in Northwood, with the Rev. Dan Baker of Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, rural Glenville, Minn. and the Rev. Allan Stoa of First Lutheran Church in Northwood officiating. Burial will be in the London Deer Creek Cemetery in rural Northwood.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

The family of Mary Lou Davidson has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, rural Glenville, Minn. or to the First Lutheran Church in Northwood in her memory.

Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Lou Davidson was born on April 1, 1936, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Florence (Peterson) Roessler. The family moved to South St. Paul in 1940, where she attended School. She graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1954.

Mary Lou was a member of the Luther Memorial Church where she served as Sunday School accompanist, Junior Choir Director, Vacation Bible School Music Director, and substitute organist. She attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., graduating in 1958, with a B.A. Degree in Music Education. She began her teaching career in Roseville, Minnesota, teaching Elementary and Junior High music.

She was united in marriage to Fred Davidson of Northwood, on June 2, 1963. She taught elementary music in Northwood for one year. In 1980, she resumed her teaching career until her retirement in 1997.

She was a member of the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church, rural Glenville, Minn., serving as Junior and Senior Choir Director, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Director, teacher, and Music Director, Circle and WELCA member and officer.

She belongs to Chapter ES, P.E.O. Sisterhood and Entre Nous Study Club. She also sang to the First Lutheran Senior Choir and is a member of Judith Circle. She was a member of the Worth County Chorus, serving as an accompanist for many years.

She dearly loved her family, friends, and students. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and sharing her music talent at various church, school, and community events.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Fred Davidson, of Northwood; her mother, Florence Roessler, of Apple Valley, Minn.; two sons, Douglas Davidson and his wife, Connie, of Schaller, and Ronald and his wife, Michelle, of Northwood; a daughter, Ann Davidson, of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren, Kelsey, Michael, and Katie Davidson, of Schaller; a sister, Barbara Roessler, of South St. Paul, Minn.; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Roessler; and an infant grandchild, Kyle Davidson.
