MYRTLE BRUNSVOLD
NORTHWOOD - Myrtle Brunsvold, 98, of Northwood, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street in Northwood, with Rev. Paul Holmer and Intern Lynn Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today and one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.
The family of Myrtle Brunsvold has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First Lutheran Church in Northwood in her memory.
Conner Colonial Chapel of Northwood is in charge of the arrangements.
Myrtle Brunsvold was born on May 16, 1902, in Edinburg, North Dakota, the daughter of Alof and Gunhild (Rustan) Brunsvold. She attended and received her education in the rural school district #7, in Union, North Dakota. While living in North Dakota Myrtle was a cook at a sorority house at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
She was united in marriage to Emil Brunsvold on March 23, 1942. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1966. During their marriage together they farmed around the Joice and Hanlontown area until retiring in 1958, when they moved into Northwood. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and was very active in her church circle and other activities at the church in Northwood. She enjoyed making quilts for the World Relief Organization. She also took great pride in her flowers and volunteering at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
Left to cherish her memory is a sister, Gina Morey of Hillsboro, Ore.; 15 nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
Her parents; husband, Emil; 3 sisters, Alice Nelson, Ella Foseide, Belida Bakken; and a brother, Norman Brunsvold; preceded her in death.
