Madeline Virginia Lee, 78, of Northwood, died on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City. 

The funeral service was on Monday, Sept. 10, at 10:30 am. at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood,  Iowa, with Rev. Daniel Hart officiating.  Burial was at the Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood. 

Madeline was born on Nov. 26, 1928 in Spencer,  Iowa, to Urr and Olac Prather Whiting.   She married James  Duane Lee on June 6, 1948 at Bristol Church, rural Joice, Iowa.  Madeline worked at the Midway Café, then as a cook in the Northwood-Kensett School system for 32 years until she retired. 

She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, also baking banana bread, going for coffee with her neighbors, as well as going to bingo.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Duane, Gail, Laverne; sisters Wynona, Leila, Sharon.

She is  survived by her children; Michael (Judy) Lee of Northwood, Kathleen (Ronald) Gentz of Northwood,  Peggy Hodson and special friend Rick Holtz of Northwood, Lorraine (Tom) McClosky of Sioux Center, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Darrin Gentz, Jessica Qualey, Jared Gentz, Heather Hamlim, Tanya Olson, Sara Lee, Brian McClosky , Dustin Hodson , Adam McClosky and Erica Thompson-Blaue;  11 great grandchildren; brother Keith; sisters Opal and Carrie.
