Marjorie Pangburn, 94, of Northwood, Iowa, died Monday, September 3, 2007, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Northwood United Methodist Church, 1000 First Ave. N., with the Rev. Wendi Gillan officiating. Burial will be in the Stateline Cemetery, rural Northwood. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m. conducted by members of the Northern Light O.E.S. Chapter 262 of Northwood, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church. The family of Marjorie Pangburn has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Worth County Historical Society, Northwood United Methodist Church, or to the charity of ones choice in her memory.

Marjorie Pangburn was born on September 18, 1912, in Grove Township, Worth County, the daughter of Gayhart and Letha (Seuser) Gabriel. Marjorie graduated from Northwood High School, and worked at the Park Hospital in Mason City as a Practical Nurse.

She was united in marriage to Milo W. Pangburn on June 30, 1931, in Northwood, and to this union five children were born. After their marriage together they farmed on the family farm in rural Northwood, which is a century farm. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1984.

Marjorie was a member of the Northwood United Methodist Church, Northern Light O.E.S chapter 262 and was worthy matron, founding member and former state garden club district director of the Green Thumb Garden Club, Worth County Historical society, was instrumental in having the Red Cross Blood Mobil coming to Northwood, 4-H leader, chairman women's farm bureau, Worth County chorus, quilters guild, and was known as “The Hosta Lady” for her many Hosta plants and flowers at her home in rural Northwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Milo “Buck” (Beverly) Pangburn of Northwood, William (Eunice) Pangburn of Otranto, Daniel (Donna) Pangburn of Fullerton, Calif., Nancy (Jonathon) Appleton of Fair Oaks, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Esther Gaarder of Northwood; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo; son, Donald George, who died in infancy; two granddaughters, Diane Pangburn, who died on Nov. 21, 1980, and Jenna Nerad, who died on Aug. 1, 2006; grandson, William Gary Pangburn, who died on May 9, 1958; and a sister, Bernice Flatness, who died on Dec. 14, 1990.
