MANLY, IOWA - Lenora Helen Johnson 98, of 3460 Raven Ave., died Friday (July 17, 2009) at the Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Manly, Worth county, Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday July 24, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 N. Broadway, Manly, with the Rev. David Kucera officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manly. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday July 23, 2009,at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St. in Manly, with a rosary being said at 6:30 p.m., followed by a scriptural wake service. Memorials may be directed to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, or to the Lenora H. Johnson Memorial.

Lenora Helen Wise was born on March 29, 1911, in Worth County, the daughter of Ignatius and Teresa (Reindl) Wise. She attended country school and graduated from Plymouth High School.
Lenora was united in marriage to Elmer Johnson on June 5, 1937; to this union six children were born. Lenora was a homemaker, raising six children and helped Elmer on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she belonged to St. Ann's Guild.

Lenora is survived by her children, Ann (Joseph) Aguilera, New Braunfels, Texas, Robert (Marcia) Johnson, of Eldridge, Genny (Carl) Grube, of Mason City, Leroy Johnson, of Manly, Dennis (Roberta) Johnson, of Manly, and Linda Johnson, of Manly; sister-in-law Kathryn Wise, of Plymouth; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, stepfather James Novak, sisters Irene Wise, Gertie Newbowers, and Marie Becker, one brother, Leon Wise.
