Donald Kenneth Harmon passed away peacefully March 19, 2007 in a hospice facility in Goodyear, AZ after a long battle with COPD. Don was born in Joice, lA on May 30, 1933 to Pauline (Aasland) and Emlet Harmon. He was the oldest of nine children.

Don is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Dean and sister Pat. Don is survived by wife Durene (Grube), former Northwood resident, daughter Deborah, her husband Eric (Phoenix, AZ) and their son Michael, son Darin, his wife Teri (Dubuque, IA) and their daughters Emily, Allison and Olivia. He is also survived by mother-in-law Lois Bergo (Northwood), Special Uncle Elmer Harmon (Lake Mills), brothers Darrell, Duaine, Dick, Dave, Greg and sister Doreen and many other relatives including cousins, nephews and nieces. In addition, he leaves behind a very good friend who was more like a brother, Jerry Jorgenson of Northwood.

Don graduated from Northwood High School in 1952 and lived in Lake Mills with his Uncle Elmer Harmon. He married Durene Grube on November 6, 1954. He soon joined the Navy as a radio man aboard an aircraft carrier and served four years during the end of the Korean War. He was based in San Diego and received the honor man award. Don spent the majority of his working life as a manufacturers rep in the electronics industry. He lived in Cedar Rapids, IA, Burnsville, MN, Virginia and in 1990 moved to the Phoenix area. He enjoyed golfing, boating, travel, cribbage and bridge.

In spite of health problems, Don continued to be active in his community as a golf ranger until approximately four years ago.
