Jerry L. (Pickle) Pixley, 62, of Northwood, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at his home in Northwood. Funeral service was held on Saturday, March 31, 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, with Rev. Barbara Wills officiating. Burial was in the State Line Cemetery, rural Northwood.

Jerry was born December 30, 1944 to John W. and Lillian I.(Anderson) Pixley. He was baptized Feb. 1945 and confirmed May 1959 at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood where he was a life time member. Jerry attended school at Deer Creek Country School until the third grade. He was a member of the N-K Class of 1962. During his school years he worked for Bliss Swensrud farming.

Jerry married Fran Hendrickson of Albert Lea, MN on Aug. 18, 1962, at the First Lutheran Church, Northwood, and to this union two children were born, a son Todd and a daughter Tammy.

Jerry was a long time member of the Northwood Fire and Rescue Company, the Northwood Booster Club, Men's Volleyball League, softball league and several bowling leagues. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with family and friends. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip to North Long Lake by Brainard, MN.

Jerry farmed for four years for Alfred Swensrud east of Northwood, leaving in 1967 to work at the CO-OP Elevator in Carpenter. In 1970 he started working for the Worth County Road Maintenance Crew, which he did for 36 years, retiring June 30, 2006. Jerry's biggest pride was his four grandchildren, Dustin, Seth, Lauren and Brandon, always giving them his undivided attention.

Jerry was preceded in death by a sister Sandra in infancy; his father John in 1997; grandfather Glenn Pixley; maternal grandparents Helmer and Lena (Legaard) Anderson; two brother-in-laws, Gerald and Robert Hendrickson.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Fran; son Todd of Austin, MN, his two sons Dustin Pixley of Mason City and Seth Pixley of Grafton; his daughter Tammy (Scott) Severson and their two children Lauren and Brandon of Northwood; mother, Lillian Pixley of Northwood; sister Sharon Peterson of Mason City; brothers Dennis Pixley of Plymouth, MN, Earl Pixley of Chicago, IL, Mike Pixley of Palmdale, CA and Galen Pixley of Northwood; grandmother Beva Mae Pixley, Northwood; sister-in-laws Barb (Jim) Hayden of Cottage Grove, MN, Saralynn (Don) Williamson of Conyers, GA, Darlene Hendrickson of Albert Lea, MN., many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and his beloved dog, "Mitzie".
