Mrs. Urdahl Found Dead in Bed at Home
Death Comes Peacefully at Age 76; Funeral Rites Held at Luterhan Church

The lifeless body of Mrs. Andrew L. Urdahl, 76, was found early Friday evening at her home on Second avenue west, Northwood, where she had lived alone.

Helmer I. Harmon, a son-in-law, made the discovery when he was called to the home by neighbors who had not seen her during the day and who observed that no lights came on as evening approached. It is thought that she had died some time during the early morning hours of Friday.

Death had come peacefully, Mrs. Urdahl lying as she had retired, with no evidence of any struggle as the end came. Mrs. Urdahl had been afflicted with hardening of the arteries, members of her family state, and this condition undoubtedly resulted in her sudden death.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Urdahl home and at 2:00 o’clock at the Northwood Lutheran church with the pastor, the Rev. Arthur J. Tolo , in charge of the rites. Burial was made in the Lutheran section of Sunset Rest cemetery by the side of her husband who died Nov. 14, 1936.

Anna Marie Urdahl was born July 14, 1862, in Spring Grove, Minn. She was baptized in infancy and was confirmed as a girl in the Lutheran faith. She was married December 16, 1884, to Andrew Urdahl, the vows being spoken at Elk Creek Lutheran church with the Rev. Ole Nilson, a pioneer Lutheran minister of this vicinity, officiating. They observed their golden wedding anniversary on Dec. 16, 1934.

Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Urdahl of whom one son and one daughter preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are Mrs. Nettie Dyer, Mason City; Mrs. Bertha Houg, Jasper, Minn.; Mrs. Mabel Kittelson and Olaf Urdahl both of Beresford, S. Dak.; Mrs. Selma Harmon, Northwood; Mrs. Lillian Woodstock, Minneapolis; Adin Urdahl, Wadena, Minn.; and Alfred Urdahl, Everett, Washington. There are 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren living. A sister, Mrs. Christine Sande, resides at Grafton, N. Dak.

Mrs. Urdahl has been a member of the Northwood Lutheran Church for the past fourteen years, transferring her membership from Elk Creek Church where she had held membership for many years after coming to Northwood to live. She was known as a kind and loving wife and mother and a pleasant neighbor. Although living a quiet home life, she was interested in her church, her home and her family and with those with whom she came in contact.
