David P. Herom came from Norway in the year 1873, and located in Worth county. For the first 8 years after his arrival he worked upon farms in different parts of the county. in 1879 he went to North Dakota and purchased a half section of land, spending his summers there and the winters in Northwood. In the year 1884 he located in Northwood and has been a resident of the town ever since. In that year he entered into the implement business with E. E. Savre, under the firm name of Savre & Herom. and continued until the year 1890, when the business was sold and the firm dissolved. That same year he purchased a hardware store in Kensett. which he owned and conducted for about 18 months when he sold the business and then purchased an interest in a hardware store in Waseca, Minn., which he retained and controlled until 1904 when he disposed of his interest. Mr. Heron has been assessorof tle town of Northwood and also street commissioner for several terms.
Mr. Herom was married to Ella Johnson in Northwood, Iowa. June 6, 1887. They have had two children, the oldest Clarence, died in infancy, Alvin Joy is now 15 years of age, and a student in the Northwood High School.
