James Johnson, age 68, of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Elmwood Care Center in Onawa. Private family graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City under the direction of Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.

James Loren, son of Kenneth and Frances (McQuirk) Johnson, was born August 23, 1955, in Sioux City. James grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High. He delivered the Des Moines Register for many years with his family. James led a simple life – rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs, and caring for his many cats – there are many waiting for him at the rainbow bridge.

James is survived by: a sister Rita Cunningham and a brother Jerry (Phyllis), all of Sioux City; Nieces and nephews: Heather Cunningham, Jon Cunningham, Debbie (Stan) Richmann, Kyle (Emily) Buum (and their children Brinley and Kale), and Cody Johnson; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Janice (Richard) Schwartz; a brother Jon Johnson; a nephew Jon Schwartz; and by several aunts and uncles.

James' family extends a special thanks to the staff at Elmwood Care Center for caring for him in his final days, Doctors and Staff at Urology, Dr. Walz at SCHC, Renal Associates, and Davita and Fresenius Dialysis.
