Alan R. Martin, 71 of Bronson, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family. Alan fought a long hard battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease.
Celebration of Alan's life will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 4-7 pm with a Memorial Service at 5 pm, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Alan Russell Martin was born on December 11, 1952 in Sioux City, the son of George and Annabelle (Jensen) Martin. Alan was united in marriage to Gloria Ahlers on June 23, 1972. He worked for National Roofing for 27 years until the business closed. Alan was a Business Agent with the Roofers Local 222. Later, he worked at A-1 Insulation and Drywall for 14 years before retiring in 2016.
Alan was an avid hunter, and enjoyed going fishing and camping. Family was very important to him. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandkids to fish and spending time with them. In his earlier years Alan enjoyed scuba diving and was a member of the Siouxland Underwater Search and Recovery.
Alan was not only the life of the party he was the party. He loved to joke and goof around with everyone. He never failed to make others laugh.
Alan is survived by his wife Gloria, sons, Alan B. (Kelly) Martin and James L. (Holly) Martin, daughter, Melissa (Josh) Siebenhaar, 11 grandchildren; Alyssa Martin, Jesse Martin, Zachary Lieber, Natalie Martin, Rylee Martin, Madison Ploen, Carter Ploen, Cade Ploen, Sadie Siebenharr, Noah Mayo, Grant Mayo, his only great grandchild, Dakota Carlson, brother, Kevin (Kelly) Martin, sisters, Christine Foster and Jean Frank, and his in-law's; Roger Ahlers, Mary Ann (Joe) Roth, Franny Henning, Lee (Gerri) Ahlers, Susan (Ken) Krueger, Russell (Marlene) Ahlers, Roy (Gayle) Ahlers, Mark (Deb) Ahlers, Karla (Mike) McClennen, Paul Ahlers, Jeff (Dee) Ahlers, many nieces, nephews, friends and Sniper Martin, (his dog).
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred Lange, and brother-in-law, Dale Frank, and a step-sister, Yvonne (Cookie) Boggs.
The family would like to Thank the University Nebraska Medical Center/ Dr. Julia Pavelka and Dr. Daniel Murman and St. Croix Hospice for the excellent care that Alan received.
