REMSEN, Iowa - Verna Doris Raveling, 85, of Sioux City, formerly of Remsen, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moeller Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Raveling was born March 3, 1915, in eastern Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Etta (Moritz) Harnack.

She graduated from Remsen High School in 1934. She worked for various businesses in the Remsen area.

She married Orville Raveling on Jan. 29, 1946, in Remsen. The couple co-owned a heating and plumbing business in Remsen.

In 1963, they moved to Sioux City. Her husband died June 24 1996.

She belonged to several women's organizations and enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include a nephew, Kermit Peters of Omaha, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Peters; a son, Dan.
