DANBURY, Iowa -- Frank H. Welte, 95, of Danbury died Monday at a Sioux City hospital after surgery.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Thiele will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited by the parish at 7:30 p.m. and by the Knights of Columbus at 8:15 p.m. today at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mr. Welte was born Dec. 8, 1885, in Danbury. As a young man, he helped build the present St. Mary Catholic Church.

He married Kathryn Uhl Feb. 8, 1910, in Danbury. They farmed north of Danbury for two years before moving to a farm west of Danbury where, he lived for 68 years. Mrs. Welte died Aug. 11, 1960.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Holy Rosary Council Knights of Columubs, was active for many years as an Oto Township trustee, served on ASC Committee and was a longtime Oto Township school director. In 1970 he was presented an honorary lifetime membership in the Knights of Columbus.

He moved to a nursing home in Whiting in September of 1980.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Leone) Morgan of Mapleton, Mrs. Orville (Katherine) Dandurand and Mrs. Walter (Pauline) Scott, both of Salix, and Mrs. A. Robert (Helen) Stodden of Shelton, Wash.; four sons, Francis "Bud" of Smithland, Claire of Danbury, Gene of Whiting and Louis of Anthon; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Wessling of Carroll.
