Martin M. Leahy, 73, a rural Danbury resident, died Friday evening March 13, 1981 at a Sioux City hospital.

The Rosary was recited Sunday by St. Mary's Parish at 7:30 p.m. and by the Knights of Columbus at 8:15 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, in St. Mary's Church at Danbury with Rev. Robert Thiele, celebrant and Monsignor R.V. Sweeney and Rev. E. Hoffman, concelebrants. St. Mary's Choir, directed by Mrs. Leo Seuntjens, with Bob Barry organist, provided the music. Acolytes were Dan, Paul and Steve Boyle. Lector was Dennis Boyle.

Casketbearers were Cleo McGuire, John Forch, Mike Brenner, Mark Brenner, James Boyle and Leo Kane. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Danbury under the direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Mr. Leahy was born April 11, 1907 to Edward J. and Josephine Boyle Leahy. He lived his entire life on the family farm north of Danbury. He attended St. Patrick's School, and married Mary Ellen Crowley December 30, 1935 at Ryan, Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include the widow, one daughter, JoAnne of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons, Edward J. of Orange City, Iowa, Michael M. of Normal, Illinois, and Donald W. of Westbrook, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary McGuire of Sioux City, Iowa, Miss Ellen Leahy of Tuscon, Arizona and Mrs. John (Edna) Brenner of Danbury.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary; one son, Frank; and two sisters; Mrs. Al (Margaret) Forch and Miss Leona Leahy.
