Thelma A. Kennedy, age 87, formerly of Oto, Iowa, died Monday, January 11, 1999 in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Services were held on Saturday, January 16, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ at Oto, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial was in Danbury, Iowa at Garfield Township Cemetery. Maxine Richardson was the pianist for the service. Sheila Kennedy Zimmerman sand (sang)

Thelma Aletha Kennedy was born on October 21, 1911 at Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Aaron and Mabel Palmer. She lived in the Ute area until 1917. After her mother's death in 1917, she lived with Dave and Alice Hamilton and attended Oto Public School.

In 1928, she was united in marriage to Harmon Ara Kennedy. Five children were born to this union. They lived in the Oto community until 1963 when Harmon died.

For several years after Harmon's death, Thelma was a practical nurse and founded home health care for several families in Iowa and Nebraska.

For health reasons, Thelma moved to Minneapolis in November 1994. She entered the Minnesota Masonic Home in February 1995.

Survivors include a son, Noll and his wife Karen of Bloomington, Minnesota: six grandsons; 5 granddaughters and 23 great-grandchildren.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Harmon, Frank and Daniel: her daughter June: 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Minnesota Cremation Society.
