John F. Kane was born March 16, 1887 and died Tuesday, January 27, 1970 at his home after a long illness. He had reached the age of 82 years, 10 months and 11 days.

He attended Valparaiso University and taught school in Geneseo, Illinois, then came to Danbury in 1916 and was employed at Barry Garage. In 1920
he started farming.

On September 5, 1919 he was married to Agnes Gorman at Danbury. She died in 1964.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mapleton and Carlson-Frum Post, American Legion of Danbury.

Survivors include his son, Leo of Mapleton, five grandchildren, and sister, Mrs. William Bruhn of Rock Island, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers and four sisters.

Services were held Friday, January 30, 1970 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with Rev. A. H. Ocken officiating. The Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 1970. Military rites were by Danbury American Legion.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Danbury, Iowa.

Pallbearers were Orville Petersen, Donald Uehle, Joseph Peters, Jr., Loren Brenner, E. J. LeFebrvre and Tom Barry.
