10 January 1987DANBURY, Iowa -- John E. Kane, 73, died Friday at his home near Danbury after a long illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with the Rev. Robert Thiele officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Carlson Frum Post 336 of Danbury. At Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton, visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday with the rosary recited the parish at 7:30 p.m. and by Knights of Columbus at 8 p.m.
Mr. Kane was born March 16, 1913, on the family farm near Danbury where he farmed with his brother and sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, and American Legion.
Survivors include two brothers, Joseph of rural Danbury, and Thomas of La Habra, Calif., four sisters, Margaret and Mary, both of rural Danbury, Alice of Gearheart, Ore., and Eloise of Chevy Chase, Md.
