14 May 1964Mrs. Agnes Winifred Kane, 71, of Mapleton, died Wednesday, May 6, 1964, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kane, the daughter of Catherine and Dennis Gorman, was born October 25, 1892, at Neola, Iowa, at the age of 7 and lived there the most of her life. She was married to John F. Kane Sept 2, 1919, at Danbury. They farmed near Danbury several years, moving to Mapleton about a year and a half ago.
She was a graduate of St. Patrick's Academy at Danbury and later taught school in the rural Danbury area. Mrs. Kane was a member of St Mary's Catholic church at Mapleton and St Mary's Guild.
Survivors include the widower, John; of Mapleton; a son, Leo J. of Mapleton; a sister, Ann Marie Gorman of Omaha and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 8, at St Mary's Catholic church in Mapleton. Rev. A. H. Ocken and Rev. R. V. Sweeney officiated.
The Rosary was recited at the Walter funeral home at Mapleton Thursday night.
Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery at Danbury under direction of the Walter funeral service of Mapleton.
Pallbearers were Jake Uehle, Andy Seuntjens, Bernard Wessling, Dan Welte, Joe Peter, Jr., and Orval Peterson.
