Orpha M. Jerman, 70, 1413 S. Nicollet St., retired teacher and librarian, died Tuesday at the home of her son in Seymour, Ind., after a long illness.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor Thomas Donahoe will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today with a rosary service at 7 p.rm in Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Jerman, the former Orpha Marie Larsen, was born June 4, 1916, in Sioux City. She graduated from East High School in 1934 and Morningside College in 1938. She married Gerald V. Jerman June 4, 1940, at Anthon. He died Oct. 19, 1972, in Sioux City. She taught school in Anthon and then served as librarian in the Woodbury County Library from 1950 to 1957. She was librarian for the Eugene (Ore.) Library from 1957-1958; Sioux City Public Library from 1958-1961; Morningside Branch Library from 1961-1970 and as reference librarian at Morningside College from 1970 until her retirement in 1984.

Mrs. Jerman was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Guild of the church and Carmel Club. She was a member of National Retired Teachers Association and Travel Adventurers Club.

Survivors include a son, Roger of Seymour, and a grandson.

Memorials have been established in her name with the American Cancer Society and Morningside College Library Fund.
