OTO, Iowa-- Bert Green, Jr., 68, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Oto, died Saturday, July 16, 1994, in Portland.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto with the Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. Burial will be in the Mount St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa, with military honors performed by the American Legion Henry McKenna Post 651 and V.F.W. Post 9124, both of Oto. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Green was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Anthon, the son of Bert and Anna Green. After the death of his parents in 1934, Bert was taken in by the John Haven family of Anthon. He later went to live with his grandmother, Josie Green of Oto, where he attended school. He worked at the Charlie Newman farm for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Later, he moved to Mapleton, Iowa, where he was a businessman. He moved to Portland, where he worked in the logging business until he retired in 1986.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Herman Schink of League City, Texas; four brothers and their wives, Donald and Catherine Green of Alden, N.Y., Joe and Fern Green of Omaha, Neb., Charles and Sophie Green of Sioux City, and Ronald (Ken) and Rosalie Swim of Woodland, Texas; two aunts, Opel Oregon and Vera Hawn; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
