Funeral services for Edmund Giles Gothier, 79, who passed away August 16, 1972, at a Correctionville nursing home, were held Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Anthon, with Rev J. G. Skahill officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Wilfred Bernard, Frank Schuh, Norman Stickney, Everett Gothier, Donald Gothier and Vincent O'Connell.

Edmund Giles Gothier, son of John and Clara Davis Gothier, was born April 11, 1893, at Anthon. He married Martha Bernard on January 8, 1916, at Anthon. They farmed and resided in the Anthon community until he quit farming and moved to Sioux City in 1937. There he worked as a feed salesman. He retired in 1967.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include two sons, Harold of Anaheim, California, and Edward E. Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Willerd (Helen) Sawin of Anthon, Mrs. Charlotte Borchers of LeMars, Miss Shirley Gothier of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Chester (Nita) Belnap of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Ida) Stickney of Sioux City, Mrs. Jeff (Elva) O'Connell of Anthon, one brother Frank Gothier of Anthon, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one sister.
