Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday, November 21, 1955, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Anthon, for Jess Gothier, 64, a former Anthonite who died Tuesday, November 15 in a San Francisco, California, hospital following a heart ailment. Rev. A.M. Conlon officiated and burial was in Mount St. Joseph cemetery at Anthon under direction of Hudgel funeral home.

Pallbearers were nephews, Thomas Schoberg, Norman Stickney, Leo Stickney, Everett Gothier, Donald Gothier, and Vincent O'Connell.

Mr. Gothier was born August 3, 1891, at Anthon, the son of John E. and Clara [Davis] Gothier. He was married in March 1915 to Rose Farmer at Sioux City. They farmed near Anthon until 1948. In 1951 they moved to Anthon and in 1953 to San Francisco.

Mr. Gothier was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon.

Survivors include the widow, Rose; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Lewis of Anthon and Mrs. Geneva Gelhaus of San Francisco; six grandchildren; three brothers, Louis Gothier of Denver, Colorado; Frank Gothier of Anthon and Ed Gothier of Sioux City; three sisters, Mrs. Hans Bohm of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Frank Stickney of Sioux City and Mrs. Jeff O'Connell of Anthon.
